'Hell Hounds' was inspired by a Robert Johnson track 'Hellhound on my Trail'. it seemed natural to set this painting in front of a large full moon and use backlighting on the dogs to create atmosphere. I wanted the rider to appear very mysterious and the addition of the ghostly angel wings raises the question, is the rider of this earthly plane and is he running from the 'Hell Hounds' or running with them.
